A great weekend

A few of us headed to Fernie for some downhill action this weekend. Never really being in southern B.C. I didn't know what to expect. All I knew Fernie has really good snow in the winter when it doesn't rain. We left Friday after work. It's about a 3 hour drive from Calgary. The drive was pretty nice. A change from hwy 1 to Canmore!!! We arrived in Sparwood at our campsite just as it was getting dark. Just in time to get the tent setup and crack a beer. Sparwood has a really BIG dump truck parked right beside the highway. (Small towns in Alberta put really BIG things in there cities to bring tourists) I didn't get a picture but promise I will get a pic next time.

We all woke up around 8 for a great day of biking. Never downhilling in Fernie I was super stoked. I've heard lots of good about the hill. We got to the hill and geared up. Got the bikes and headed to the chair lift. We started out on a nice blue run. To get everyone warmed up and to let Rayne get a feel for what riding a bike downhill fast was all about. We started on a nice blue run. Went down a bit and stopped to wait for the girls and see how everyone is doing. Everyone OK? YUP!!! So we ride on. I do have to say I'm super proud and excited that Émilie has tried DH. She is getting really good. She is riping the blue runs to pieces. She has progressed a lot every time we have gone. We all got to the bottom safe and smiles all around.

We rode for the rest of the day without any major crashes or mechanicals. Émilie did fall and has a few bruises to show from it. No crying this time. Just smiles and a slight limp when she walks. Again. Great job! Je t'amie!

Sunday - We slept in and planned on going to pick up my computer from the Apple store. (hard drive crashed for the second time) You should have seen all the people lined up for the new iPhone 4. Picked the Mac up and we were off back to the house. Had enough time to get the computer up and running before dinner and Karen and Jim's. Steak and salad! one of my favorites.

Anywho, It's late and I need some sleep.

Is this fair

Weds - I decided to ride into work today. It's really hard getting up at 5 to ride your bike to work. Biking is fun. Highlight of my day. Biking in to work. Work. Biking home. But isn't the middle always suppose to be the good part? Oreos. Cheese and crackers. Anyways... It was a nice morning. Around 12 degrees out. Ride was quicker then I planned. Made it in less then an hour. Ride home felt like I had two flat tires. But I think it's the rider with a couple of extra pounds is to blame.

Thurs - I'm sitting at the VW dealership getting the first oil change of the cars life. If you make an appointment for 10am. Wouldn't you think they would take the car at 10am? It's now 1045am and the car just drove into the service bay. Customer service in bigger cities is going down the crapper. I bought the car from you. I went out of my way to come back for service. It's no where near my house. Im sure in spending $100 bucks or more today. I'm scratching your back. Scratch mine a bit!

Enough with being a negative Nancy.

Emilie is gone to a girls day in Fernie for some down hill bicycling. I'm a little jealous. I'm sitting at the dealership. Going back home to fix my Mac. ( the OS won't boot up ). I might loose all my pics and everything. Once I get that fixed. Math home work!

I'm out.

V-dub

Well.... Émilie is gone for a week in Spain with her sister and I have the whole house to myself. Amazing how bored I am without her around. I miss her a lot and its only the 3rd day. Went to the dentist today for some work. Went great. I didn't eat the inside of my cheeks because of the freezing!

I thought since I haven't wrote anything on my new car that a post should be made. I got the car back in March and been loving it ever since! I went into the dealership to look at the new golf and walked out with a 2010 Golf Wagon 2.5. After a few days of signing the dotted line I picked the car up. Went over all the boring stuff like how to turn the radio volume up and down. I drove it off the lot. Straight to the VW tuner shop where I got 19' wheels. Being 27 and no kids. I had to spice the car up a bit. :) I have done many road trips to Golden B.C. and few times to market. I love the car and couldn't be happier with my pick of the litter.

Thanks VW for making a great car!

A new Chapter...

I know it's been a long time since the last post. I've been very busy with work and weekend trips to the mountains. Émilie and I have been going to the rockies for lots of hiking, biking and camping. Canada day Ém and I went to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden B.C. for some downhill action! It was Ém's first time!!! I think if you look past the 6 hours of screaming and a few bruises. I think she had a great time!!!

More into this new chapter. After many months of thinking about my future. I've decided to go back to school. I'm still in the beginning stage of the process. I'm currently upgrading a few classes. Hoping for a Jan start date for Mechanical Engineering at SAIT here in Calgary. I just received my HUGE math book in the mail Friday. Fingers crossed it all comes back fast! It's been 10 years!!!!

O yeah, If you haven't picked up Phoenix's new albume Wolfgang Amadeus. DO IT!!! The whole album is great.

Till next time.

Castle Mountain Ski Resort

Hello Guys,

This past weekend, 13 of us went to Castle Mountain snowboarding/skiing for the long weekend. I had the new snowboard/boots/ bindings for the first time and stoked to try them out. I had already tried the board and boots at Sunshine two weeks ago. MUCH better then my 1990's board I was on. Un-like the last trip the roads were clear and everything was smooth sailing Friday night. Castle is maybe my favorite place I've been snowboard yet. Revelstoke is better but 4 hours away. It was dark when we left Calgary so the few to the mountain was pretty boring. Just black and car tail lights. The house we rented was brand new and very chalet styled house. Including a loft area with a bed. Only way to get to it was by ladder. Saturday Emilie and I checked out the mountain. Getting a feel of what the mountain was about. We haven't gotten any snow for a few weeks and it's been more like spring then winter. The mountain is AMAZING!!! I dream about going back every night. It's steap, has a ton of trees and the snow is nice on the top half of the mountain.

I will post pics once I get some from the other guys.

Snowboarding in Revelstoke

Last weekend a bunch of us went to Revelstoke skiing/snowboarding for the weekend. I haven't snowboarded in a very long time! 4 or more years! Not knowing anything about Revelstoke three months ago I said "Yeah, I'll go!" How bad can it be....? Never heard of a hill in Revelstoke. Turns out the place opened a few years ago and it has the largest vertical in North America. Still stoke to go tho!

The trip started off really crappy. Road closed from Golden to Revelstoke. The one road there!!! We ended up staying in golden Friday night. Being my birthday we started drinking at the pool. Turns out they opened the road around 10 that night but warned everyone not to travel it. So up at 6am and on the road!!! Roads were in okay shape. Slow and steady the whole way there.

Got there on time. Got our tickets. Got on the gondola to the top. Great day of snowboarding. Besides the bottom. It had rained and everything was ice. but the top was just crazy deep of power. It was my first power experience. and I am now in love! The only thing that wrong that day was my boots were killing my feet. I could only get a few runs in. The runs take you over and hour to get down from the top. Bought a new board over the weekend and got a pair of sweat Flow boots!!! (post pics when everything is installed) Can't wait to go boarding again. Émilie and I might head somewhere this weekend. Thinking sunshine!

Montréal landing

Here is a little video of us landing in Montréal. The flights have been good after my first flight from Calgary to Toronto. Managed to keep dinner down this time!

Loving the new iPhone.

Well. Well. Well. On another plane. So far so good. Emilie and I spent a week in Quebec city visiting all that is great in the city. We went shopping in old Quebec city and saw where they host the Red Bull crashed ice. Wouldn't get me on skates going done that hill. Talk about steep!!! King kong balls on the people that do! We shopped and ate in old Quebec. Belle city.
I notice two things right away. Two feet of snow and it was snowing. And for every 10 cars there was a snow plow. It must have snow over a foot the first two days I was there. Every road was plowed within 24h. Just saying with the money Calgary is worth. I think we can do a way better job.
On my way to London to vist my Mom and Max. It's been to long since ive seen them.

Till next time.
